A first birthday is an important birthday

My niece, Abbigaile is turning one this week. While I don't want one yet, having someone to obsessively make things for, is rather nice. A self-binding blanket (or playmat, that was my intention) and a soft-cloth beatrix potter counting book (she likes turning pages). Please note the decorative heart stitch! My mom says it would take her (an average to good sewer) about 20 minutes to make the blanket. For me, the beginner to crappy sewer, it takes an hour. Happy birthday Abbigaile!
