I had the day off today, a rare and beautiful thing in my life at the moment. I tried to pack in as much as possible. The weather was so, so wonderful - sunny and warm. I stood at the kitchen window, with the breeze blowing in, and listened to all the sounds of my neighbourhood. Sometimes I need moments like this to slap me in the face and say, "Home is beautiful too, you ungrateful child!", since I spend so much time dreaming about living in other places.

But, none of that. I tried out a honey hair rinse this afternoon. It's just one tablespoon of honey, mixed with a quart of warm water. You pour it over your head and let your hair dry naturally. It's left mine feeling pretty soft and lovely.

Then I decided that I must have homemade bagels. When I was about 13, I went through a phase where I wanted to be a baker. I mean, I clearly said "when I was 13", which was very devious of me... I still want to be a baker. Unfortunately, I imagine it is not quite so romantic as it seems in my mind and eventually I would tire of the flour dust. The point being, 13-year old me was particularly interested in bagel making. So, today I set out to make some bagels.

See?
